5/26/2023 0 Comments Returnal phrike![]() The artifacts, proficiency, augments, weapons, etc that you pick up along the way. ![]() Try to think about your progress with this game in three parts. ![]() Staying reasonably far back allows you to dash dodge the slash after red ring in phases 2+ and then jump (see earlier point re spitmaw). The hardest bit for me was figuring out which beam attack was coming to from the windup. The only attacks it’s basically critical to dodge are the beam and the melee and they are well telegraphed. If using a pistol I don’t think it’s worth trying to spam the trigger when you also have to plan for the other attacks. I usually sprint to the side when it uses the blue tracing missles but I was still able to fire. Tactically in the fight running sideways is basically enough to dodge its orange attacks. The bonus proficiency at lvl 3 I think pays off for opening chests later. Keep adrenaline up earlier during the run. Getting enough obolites for integrity upgrade is important. The spitmaw felt like it forced me to be at a closer distance than was comfortable. Shock stream sucks as alt-fire because it can’t be popped off instantly even if it is great for the mobs I struggle with. After I think 6 tries I was able to beat Phrike (succeeded last night) Shoot the decorations in each Biome- statues with glowing eyes in Biome 1 reward glimmer, plants and Skelton looking trees in 2 etc. You are immune to most damage when in dodge movement (purple lasers still hit). When your done it takes you back to where you were when you used it. The 'translocation sphere' consumable is badly explained in game- it takes you to one of the hidden/bonus rooms. Struggling with weapon choices a carbide can work against every enemy and boss. When you fall always dodge before landing making the parasite that causes damage on long fall an instant bonus. Parasites can really help your game.Īlso change your 'risky interactions'' to press instead if hold, this means you can quickly pick items up without having to stop. Malfunctions in Biome 1 are relatively simple to fix so don't be afraid to try some malignant chests etc. Bigger bosses have a red patch which you can do extra damage by shooting.ĭying is part of the game, do not be discouraged. Try all the weapons to find one that suits your game style. Weapons increase in strength per proficiency so if you are almost at a new level wait before opening a chest incase it has a better level weapon.Ĭhallenge room Biome 1 - wait until you have a decent weapon before trying it and especially before avenging any corpse.ĭon't ADS small creatures, hip fire and don't stop moving. Spend Ether in first room to unlock new items into loot pool (it maxed out at 12 or 15). This makes picking things up much easier without having to stop. You have an option risky encounter- default is press and hold, change to press. Switch on always run, increase the size if your on screen reticle to large/thick (makes hitting overload easier). My mistake was in was more focused on shooting him than dodging (and I wasn't unlocking stuff with my Ether for way too long). No spoilers Phrike is IMHO the toughest boss in the game and I have more deaths to him than the others combined. The first boss is definitely the toughest boss and I have more deaths to him than all the other bosses combined.
